Sri Lanka will be looking for the elusive test match and series win when they tour India for a Three Test, five ODI and Two T20 match series from November to December 2009. The team arrive in India on November 8th for the 55-day tour.
Middlesex County Cricket Club is one of the 18 major county clubs which make up the English and Welsh domestic cricket structure, representing the historic county of Middlesex. Its limited overs team is called the Middlesex Crusaders. Kit colours are lilac and dark blue quarters.Shirt sponsors are Northern Rock and Catlin.
The club plays most of its home games at Lord's Cricket Ground in St John's Wood, which is owned by Marylebone Cricket Club. The club also plays some games around the county at the Walker Ground in Southgate which hosts the annual Middlesex County Cricket Festival, Uxbridge CC in Uxbridge and The Old Deer Park in Richmond (home of Richmond CC).
Middlesex CCC has an indoor school based in Finchley and the Middlesex Academy officially opened in October 2003 to provide specialist coaching to the 12 best county prospects.
Currently the former Middlesex and Sussex batsman Toby Radford is the 1st XI Coach. Following a successful tenure as the Director of the Middlesex Cricket Academy, he was appointed as the permanent successor to Richard Pybus on 7th November 2007 and Ed Smith was re-appointed county captain for 2008. During periods of injury for Smith, the team has been captained by the vice-captain Ed Joyce.
From 2007, Middlesex have worn pink shirts during their Twenty20 matches in support of the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity.
In 2008, Middlesex became the current Twenty20 Cup Champions and therefore also historically became the first County Cricket Club to qualify for both the Twenty20 Champions League and the Stanford Super Series to be played in December and October 2008 respectively.
The 2009 ICC World Twenty20 is a Twenty20 cricket tournament scheduled to take place in England in June of 2009. It will be the second World Twenty20 and will consist of 12 teams, contested by all Test-playing nations plus qualifiers (Ireland, Netherlands and Scotland)
The Champions Twenty20 League, formed with the official sanction of ICC will kick off in October 2008. Eight domestic teams from four nations will participate. Cricket Australia will partner the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Cricket South Africa (CSA). The champion team in the Champions Twenty20 league will get US $5 million, which is the highest ever prize money for a cricket event.
