CLT20 2011 Final: Mumbai Indians take title

Mumbai Indians The Mumbai Indians secured the 2011 Champions League Twenty20 title in Chennai with a 31-run victory over the Bangalore Royal Challengers in an entertaining final. James Franklin top-scored for the Mumbai Indians with 41 off 29 balls, as they posted a below-par total of 139 all out from their 20 overs. Harbhajan Singh took three for 20 for Mumbai, as Royal Challengers stuttered to 108 all out from 19.2 overs.
Mumbai Indians 139 (Franklin 41, Bhatkal 3-21, Vettori 2-30) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore 108 (Dilshan 27, Harbhajan 3-20, Chahal 2-9, Malinga 2-23) beat by 31 runs

CLT20 2011 2nd Semi-Final: Splendid bowling by Malinga takes Mumbai Indians into the Finals beating Somerset by 10 runs

Mumbai Indians battle it out against Somerset today in the 2nd Semi-final of the Champions League Twenty20. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Mumbai Indians were able to pick up 160 runs at the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Blizzards's half century was the only notable performance in the Mumbai innings.

Malinga struck in the first over of the Somerset innings by taking out Trego(0) in the second ball. He also got Van der Merwe(10) in the 3rd over. But Kieswetter and Hildreth took Somerset to 100/3 in 13.3 ov. At one point, Somerset needed only 29 runs in 3 overs to win, but Player of the Match, Malinga struck again taking 2 crucial wickets in the last over, and conceding only 20 runs in his 4 overs, taking 4 wickets in total. Somerset were able to take only 150/7 at the end of 20 overs.

The Mumbai Indians will now face Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Finals of the Champions League Twenty20 tomorrow, Oct 9, 2011.

CLT20 2011 1st Semi-Final: Royal Challengers Bangalore move on to the Finals defeating New South Wales by 6 wickets

In the 1st Semi-final, Bangalore won the toss and elected to field. New South Wales scored 203 runs at the end of 20 overs, losing only 2 wickets. David Warner was the star of their innings remaining unbeaten at 123.

After losing Dilshan in the 2nd over, RCB's Chris Gayle (98) and Virat Kohli (84*) breezed through the innings and got their team to 162/2 in 13.5 overs when Gayle was caught lbw by Cummins. RCB reached their target in 18.3 overs to reach the Finals of Champions League Twenty20 2011.

The Champions Twenty20 League, formed with the official sanction of ICC will kick off in October 2008. Eight domestic teams from four nations will participate. Cricket Australia will partner the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Cricket South Africa (CSA). The champion team in the Champions Twenty20 league will get US $5 million, which is the highest ever prize money for a cricket event.
